OUR STORY
After the abolition of slavery, Starr’s ancestors decided they didn’t want to leave North Carolina. Instead, they created an unofficial area called Session Town and became entrepreneurs.
We wanted to pay homage to their spirit and her maiden name by creating Session City – a sister company to the award-winning post-house Hybrid Collective.
Meet our Founders
Starr Session Varga
Managing Partner & Executive Producer
Hybrid is where Starr got her start. It’s where she met Susan, the owner, and where she fell in love with this industry. After starting in client services in 2009, Starr eventually moved up the ranks to Executive Producer. Along the way her role morphed in many ways, ultimately leading to Susan and Starr teaming up to lead Session City.
With over 20 years of experience in the entertainment world as a professional dancer, red-carpet host, VO artist, and producer, her well-rounded background has helped me shape Session City into a collective of out-of-the-box thinkers who create art.
Susan Munro
Managing Partner & Editor
Susan Munro has had a prolific career working in the creative production and post-production sector of independent films and advertising. Starting her career with a bang at the legendary Red Car editorial house, she began quickly working with many of the top directors in television commercials. In 2009, she founded Hybrid Collective with the late Michale Bartoli. After seven years as a solo founder, Susan has partnered with Starr Session to form Session City to bring greater diversity to post production.
As a true storyteller, Susan uses her unique vision & resourcefulness to craft a one-of-a-kind visual work of art. She enjoys forging relationships that blossom into longstanding partnerships that last through multiple projects throughout the years.
